Overseasidol.com — On May 21, a social media user claiming to be the former assistant of Chinese actress Eleanor Lee issued a public apology.

The assistant admitting to maliciously editing, synthesizing, and fabricating an audio recording that falsely portrayed the actress as insulting Chinese citizens.

The apology came after receiving a warning and education from local authorities, prompting the individual to reflect on the serious legal and ethical consequences of their actions.

The former assistant, identifying themselves as “Xiao Pang”, expressed deep remorse for the damage caused to Eleanor’s reputation.

“I, Xiao Pang, formerly an assistant to Ms. Lee Kai Xin, have come to recognize that my actions, editing and fabricating a fake audio clip constitute the spread of false information and have seriously harmed Ms. Lee’s public image.

I sincerely apologize to her and vow never to repeat this mistake,” the statement read.

The individual also urged the public to immediately cease spreading the false recording and related rumors, highlighting the importance of maintaining a healthy and truthful online environment.

This development comes shortly after Eleanor Lee herself issued a statement clarifying that the controversial audio was manipulated content created during a dispute between her and her former assistant, involving labor issues.

She emphasized her loyalty to China, stating she would never say anything derogatory about the country or its people, and also provided police documentation supporting her claims.
