Overseasidol.com — Renowned Chinese singer Gong Linna has opened up about her harrowing battle with severe lumbar disc herniation that nearly left her paralyzed.
In a video shared on August 14, she revealed that at one point, she was unable to walk and had to rely on crutches just to make it on stage.
She recalled that one day while walking, one of her legs suddenly went numb and became immobile.
After visiting a top-tier hospital in Beijing, doctors told her it was the most severe case they had seen in the past two years and urged immediate surgery.
“I cried instantly. I called my mother, and she said, ‘Don’t rush into surgery, you need to lie down and rest,’” Gong said.
Despite her condition, she continued with her scheduled performances.
“Before going on stage, I was supported by my assistant and used a crutch.
Once I stepped on stage, I threw the crutch away and sang while enduring intense pain.
After the show, I went straight back to lying down, and that continued for three months,” she shared.
Gong Linna later turned to natural healing by spending time in nature, planting flowers, singing with friends and neighbors, and practicing breathing exercises.
She believes that a relaxed mind is key to recovery.
“The sicker you are, the happier you must be. Don’t be anxious focus on the beauty around you and do what you love.
Even if you’re lying down, you can still think and open your heart,” she said.
