Overseasidol.com — Chinese singer and actor Huang Zitao has made headlines after the launch of his new feminine hygiene brand, Domyway which sold out within hours following its debut livestream on May 18, 2025.
With sales exceeding 40 million yuan and more than 800,000 orders placed, the product’s overwhelming success highlights Huang’s tremendous market influence.
The popularity of Duowei quickly led to a buying frenzy, with all available stock selling out almost immediately. This surge in demand triggered opportunistic behavior from scalpers, who bought the products in bulk and began reselling them on secondary platforms.
Originally priced at 49.8 yuan, Duowei sanitary pads were soon being listed for anywhere between 55 to 190 yuan, with the highest markup approaching 400%.
This inflation sparked public frustration and concern, particularly among Huang’s loyal fans, many of whom were unable to purchase the product at its original price.
The controversy quickly became a trending topic on Chinese social media platforms.
In response, Huang Zitao issued multiple statements urging consumers not to pay inflated prices and to wait for the next restock, which he promised would happen soon.
He also announced plans to expand Duowei’s availability to offline retail stores, aiming to make the product more accessible and to combat scalping.
