Overseasidol.com — Jacky Heung has drawn public attention once again after sharing a surprising story during a variety show aired on February 8.
In the program, he revealed that Ding Zhen once advised him to leave the entertainment industry, a response that left him genuinely stunned.
According to Jacky, he initially approached Ding Zhen simply to vent about the emotional struggles and interpersonal pressures he faced in the entertainment world.
However, Ding Zhen’s response was unexpectedly straightforward. Instead of offering comfort, Ding Zhen told him that if he could not endure the environment, there was no need to remain in the industry.
Jacky admitted he was shocked, as he was more accustomed to hearing harsh remarks telling him to “get out of showbiz”, rather than such blunt yet sincere advice.
It was later revealed that the conversation stemmed from Jacky’s frustrations about navigating relationships and pressure within the industry.
Ding Zhen, known for his candid personality, responded honestly, suggesting that enduring suffering in show business should never be considered an obligation.
Meanwhile, Ding Zhen himself has recently opened up about the darker side of his rise to fame.
He admitted that when he first became popular, he barely understood anything about the entertainment industry.
He described himself as feeling like a robot, following instructions without having the freedom to make his own choices.
Despite his efforts to adapt, Ding Zhen said he frequently experienced discrimination and rejection.
One incident that deeply affected him was when someone bluntly told him that his body smelled, a comment that shattered his confidence and made him question whether he should continue in the industry at all.
He also recalled an experience on set when he was feeling unwell and took a photo of himself to send to his parents.
Suddenly, a staff member shouted at him aggressively and ordered him to delete the photo.
Ding Zhen said he could only remain silent at the time, later laughing bitterly at his own situation, describing himself as feeling “like a beggar”.
