Overseasidol.com — Kuala Lumpur-based idol group KLP48 officially opened applications for its second-generation auditions on July 1, 2025.
As the 10th overseas sister group of AKB48, KLP48 has rapidly gained attention across Malaysia and beyond since debuting just one year ago.
In their official announcement, the group addressed young performers chasing their dreams.
They highlighted that this audition reflects KLP48’s swift growth and rising popularity both domestically and internationally.
The audition is open to females aged 13 to 23 of any nationality.
KLP48 emphasized that this is a unique opportunity to carry on the AKB48 idol legacy and blossom into the next-generation stars.
Applicants who pass the document screening will proceed to the second round, scheduled for August 23 and 24 in Kuala Lumpur.
Finalists will then advance to the final selection stage on September 6 and 7.
Yip Jun Huei, group representative, praised the first-generation members for captivating audiences with dynamic performances and strong fan engagement.
He expressed excitement about welcoming new individuals with fresh talents and personalities to further enrich the group.
KLP48 officially began activities in July last year. The group garnered media attention for including four Japanese members at launch.
The first audition also brought in members from Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, expanding KLP48’s reach on an international scale.
