Overseasidol.com — The film Tonight Is Right held its premiere at the BIFF on April 19, 2026.
Director Zhao Badou attended the event alongside lead actors Ma Sichun and Edward Chen, who engaged with audiences during a post-screening discussion.
The story follows an unexpected encounter between a designer named Xu Qiu and a writer named Chen Yuzhou, sparked by a failed online date.

As they spend time together exploring the city at night, their relationship gradually evolves into a journey of love and self-discovery.
During the discussion, Ma Sichun shared that Xu Qiu is one of the most challenging roles she has ever portrayed.
The character reflects a more mature, confident, and expressive personality compared to her previous roles.
She explained that her own personal growth helped her connect deeply with the character.
“I had a little alcohol to give myself some courage. I’d never done an intimate scene this explicit before.
I had to be very confident and take the lead in guiding Haosen into that state to seduce him.
How can I put it? I really enjoyed it. With such a handsome guy right in front of you, you just let your charm flow freely, admiring his physique, it’s just wonderful. It’s a real treat,” she said.
She also spoke about filming emotionally intense and intimate scenes, noting that it required a strong sense of confidence and openness.
Despite the challenges, she described the experience as rewarding and enjoyable, allowing her to explore a different side of her acting.
Edward Chen, on the other hand, revealed that he focused primarily on the emotional connection between the characters during filming.
By concentrating on the story and his co-star’s performance, he was able to stay natural and avoid unnecessary tension.
