Overseasidol.com — Hong Kong actor Stephen Fung recently addressed his wife Shu Qi’s statement regarding her desire to have children, sharing his thoughts in an interview with local media.
Feng commented that although many people choose not to have children due to the increasingly chaotic state of the world, such a mindset could eventually threaten humanity’s future if everyone thought the same way.
“If we are able, I think we should contribute,” he said. He also revealed that he would be open to adopting a child.
When asked whether the couple would continue trying for pregnancy, Fung responded humorously, “Adoption doesn’t require that much effort,”.
Previously, during an interview with veteran host Cheng Yu Ling on November 16, 2025, Shu Qi spoke openly about her feelings on motherhood for the first time.
She clarified that she and Stephen Fung never intended to be child-free. “It’s not that we don’t want children. We’ve always wanted them, but it just hasn’t happened yet,” she explained.
After marrying Stephen in 2016, Shu Qi reportedly took a year-long break from her career to focus on conceiving.
Unfortunately, due to health reasons, the effort was unsuccessful. Since then, the couple has chosen to take a more relaxed approach, allowing life to unfold naturally.
Shu Qi described a child as “a gift from heaven,” reflecting their acceptance and hope.
