Overseasidol.com — Taiwanese actor and director Yen Cheng-Kuo has sadly passed away at the age of 51 due to lung cancer, according to local media reports.
He began his career as a child star at just seven years old, appearing in several films by acclaimed director Hou Hsiao-Hsien, including The Boys from Fengkuei, A Summer at Grandpa’s, and The Story of Xiao Bi.
Yen later rose to fame through the popular The Kids film series and gained recognition as the lead actor in the classic gangster movie Rebels of the Neon God.

In 2018, Yen took on a new role as a director with the film Gatao 2: Rise of the King. The movie was a major success, becoming the second highest-grossing domestic film in Taiwan that year.
