Overseasidol.com — Chinese star Wang Yibo has become the subject of online controversy after alleged screenshots of a Xiaohongshu conversation surfaced on February 28.
The viral images claimed to show a private chat between Wang Yibo and a woman named Qi Mei He, containing references to luxury spending, including a 14,000-yuan wine order, airport VIP services, and negative remarks about fellow celebrities such as Xiao Zhan, Cai Xukun, and Cheng Xiao.
The screenshots quickly spread across social media, triggering heated discussions among fans and the wider public.
In response, Wang Yibo’s agency, Yuehua Entertainment, issued a formal statement at 1:23 a.m. on February 28, firmly denying the allegations.
The company described the circulating content as malicious fabrication, a deliberate attempt to frame the artist, and a form of public deception.
According to the agency, the individual responsible allegedly used Wang Yibo’s old phone number, reportedly deactivated and publicly disclosed as obsolete in 2019 to register a Xiaohongshu account and stage the fabricated conversation.
Yuehua Entertainment confirmed that evidence has been fully collected and that legal proceedings have been initiated to pursue accountability.
Online observers also pointed out several technical inconsistencies. Xiaohongshu’s messaging system reportedly stores chat history locally, meaning conversations cannot be accessed across devices in the way shown in the viral screenshots.
Additionally, the language style in the alleged chat appeared inconsistent with Wang Yibo’s known communication style, which is typically concise and restrained. The screenshots contained slang expressions considered uncharacteristic of him.
Further scrutiny revealed timeline discrepancies, as the alleged conversations were dated 2025–2026, despite the referenced phone number having been inactive since 2019.
Observers also noted fragmented and illogical content within the screenshots, suggesting digital manipulation or compilation from unrelated sources.
