Overseasidol.com — Upcoming historical drama Ci Tang or Revenge has recently drawn widespread attention following online discussions surrounding its cast lineup and lead role rankings.
The project, produced by Ningmeng Film & Television, is positioned as a high-budget S+ political costume drama.
Amid ongoing speculation, it has been confirmed that Zhang Linghe will take on the male lead role.
He is set to portray dual characters Crown Prince Song Ling and the powerful official Ye Tingyan, who operates under a hidden identity as part of a larger revenge narrative.
This dual-role performance is expected to drive the core storyline filled with political intrigue and emotional tension.
Meanwhile, Song Zu’er is reportedly in talks to join as the female lead.
She is being considered for the role of Su Luowei, the crown prince’s childhood companion who evolves from an innocent young woman into a revenge-driven queen.
However, her participation has not been officially confirmed.
Scheduling conflicts remain a key issue, as Song Zu’er is currently filming another project expected to wrap in July 2026.
This raises uncertainty about whether she will be able to join “Ci Tang” if production begins as planned in the third quarter of 2026, most likely around September.
The drama will be directed by Yi Jun, known for his previous successful works. Filming is expected to last approximately 130 days.
