Overseasidol.com — On August 17, Chinese actress Zhao Lusi posted a lengthy statement on social media, sparking heated discussions online.

She emphasized the importance of keeping moral boundaries in the entertainment industry.

In her post, Zhao Lusi wrote: “If the industry has no bottom line, people should still have one.  Riding on others’ fame will never create true works. An actor’s heart should always stay with their projects,”.

Many interpreted this as a response to comedian Xiao Bei’s recent remarks.

Earlier, Xiao Bei made a controversial joke during his stand-up performance about “celebrity depression”.

He said, “I’ve never seen a depressed celebrity register at a hospital. They just show up on trending topics. Don’t pity stars too much, pity the people around you instead,”.

His comments about celebrity depression drew backlash online.

Zhao Lusi herself publicly revealed in late 2024 that she was struggling with depression and panic disorder.

She took a work hiatus before gradually returning in early 2025.

Fans believe her latest statement reflects both self-defense and a critique of the industry’s harsh treatment toward mental health issues among celebrities.
