Overseasidol.com — Chinese variety show Keep Running has come under public scrutiny after issuing an apology for mistakenly using footage of a landmark from another city in its recent Anyang-themed episode.
The incident quickly became a trending topic across Chinese social media platforms.
The controversy began following the broadcast of Episode 7 of Season 14 on June 5.
During a segment promoting the city of Anyang, the production team mistakenly included footage of Congtai Park, a well-known landmark located in Handan, Hebei Province, rather than a site in Anyang.
The error was soon noticed by viewers, sparking widespread discussion online and drawing criticism from audiences familiar with both cities.
As the issue gained momentum, the show’s production team released an official apology on June 8, acknowledging the mistake and expressing regret for the inaccurate visual content.
In its statement, Keep Running said it had taken note of viewers’ concerns and promised to adopt a more rigorous and careful approach in future productions.
The team also pledged to deliver higher-quality content moving forward.
However, public discussion continued even after the apology was issued.
