Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung, has won a high-profile legal dispute against her former manager Yu Yuxing and talent agency AEG Entertainment Group Limited.
According to Hong Kong media reports, the High Court of Hong Kong ruled on June 16 in favor of the actress, dismissing claims that she had breached her management and film contracts
. The court also ordered the plaintiffs to cover the legal costs.
The dispute stemmed from agreements signed in 2011 and 2012.
Yu Yuxing alleged that he had advanced HK$42.76 million in film payments to Cheung in exchange for her participation in six movies.
The plaintiffs claimed that the actress failed to fulfill her contractual obligations and sought compensation of at least HK$12.76 million.
However, Cecilia Cheung’s legal team strongly denied the allegations.
They argued that the so-called “Global Exclusive Management Agreement” was not valid and claimed that the signature on the contract had been forged.
The defense also stated that it was Yu Yuxing who later decided not to arrange additional film projects for the actress. (Overseasidol.com)
