The Japanese adaptation of the hit Chinese drama Nothing But Thirty has officially unveiled its premiere date.
Titled Tokyo Middle 30, the series will debut on July 22, 2026, starring renowned actresses Riisa Naka, Rena Nounen, and Mai Fukagawa.
Unlike the original drama, which focused on women in their early thirties, the Japanese remake shifts its protagonists to their mid-thirties.
The series aims to portray the realities faced by modern women as they navigate challenges related to marriage, parenthood, career choices, and personal fulfillment.
The story follows three high school friends, Sakura Maki, Yamaji Haruka, and Nagano Kaoruko.
Despite having completely different personalities, they once promised to remain lifelong friends and support each other through every stage of life.
As the years pass, their paths take unexpected turns. Maki, who once dreamed of becoming a successful career woman, is now devoted to her family as a full-time homemaker.
Haruka has set aside her dream of becoming a musician and now works in the fashion industry.
Meanwhile, elementary school teacher Kaoruko struggles with the uncertainty of a long-term relationship that has yet to lead to marriage.
After drifting apart for five years, the three women reunite unexpectedly.
Their reunion encourages them to rediscover one another while reflecting on how their lives have changed from the futures they once imagined. (Overseasidol.com)
