Overseasidol.com — AKB48 has officially revealed their 66th single, titled ‘Oh my pumpkin!’, set for release on August 13, 2025.
This special single marks the 20th anniversary of the group and features the most surprising lineup in the group’s history.
The title ‘Oh my pumpkin!’ refers to a term of endearment, meaning “my beloved”.
The song is performed by a Senbatsu of 22 members, which includes 11 current AKB48 members, 4 legendary graduates, Maeda Atsuko, Takahashi Minami, Kojima Haruna, and Sashihara Rino, and 7 international members from sister groups JKT48, BNK48, MNL48, Team SH, Team TP, CGM48, and KLP48.
This marks the first time ever that members from AKB48’s overseas sister groups are participating in a main Japanese single, symbolizing a powerful message of global unity and connection across generations.
Oguri Yui, a prominent figure of AKB48’s current generation, has been selected as the center for this commemorative song.
This is her third time leading a main single, solidifying her role as the face of the group.
The jacket photo for the single features all members dressed in white dresses, captured against scenic backdrops of different cities, showing them engaged in various daily activities.
The visuals represent unity and harmony across eras and cultures, reinforcing the theme of being “one group together.”
‘Oh my pumpkin!’ will be available for streaming and download on July 19 from 00:00 JST.
