Overseasidol.com — The China Federation of Radio and Television Associations, through its Actors Committee, released an official statement on April 2 addressing the growing misuse of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry.

The statement highlights concerns over practices such as deepfake face-swapping, voice cloning, and unauthorized alteration of film and television content.

According to the committee, actors’ rights to their image, voice, and artistic identity are fully protected under the law.

Any unauthorized use of such materials, including for training AI models, constitutes a serious infringement of personal and professional rights.

The organization also emphasized that AI-generated content using actors’ likeness or voice whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes remains illegal without proper authorization.

Labels such as “fan-made” or “non-profit” do not exempt creators from legal responsibility.

Furthermore, digital platforms, including social media and streaming services, are urged to strengthen content moderation systems.

They are expected to implement stricter verification processes to ensure proper authorization before publishing AI-related content and to promptly remove infringing materials.

AI developers and service providers are also reminded to comply with legal regulations, particularly in verifying the legitimacy of data sources used in their systems.

This is crucial to prevent the misuse of personal data and copyrighted content.

As part of its enforcement efforts, the organization announced plans to enhance online monitoring and take legal action against violators.

It also advocates for the establishment of clear industry standards regarding AI usage, including transparent licensing frameworks and fair profit-sharing mechanisms.
