Overseasidol.com — China’s National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) held a key meeting on April 29, 2026, to intensify efforts against the illegal distribution of TV dramas and online series.
During the meeting, authorities highlighted that copyright infringement remains a serious issue, causing significant losses to production companies and licensed broadcasters, while also disrupting the sustainable growth of the entertainment industry.
The NRTA announced closer collaboration with regulatory bodies, including the National Copyright Administration, to strengthen enforcement and ensure compliance across digital platforms.
The crackdown will primarily target illegal streaming websites, browsers, search engines, and cloud storage services that are commonly used to distribute pirated content.
In addition to enforcement, the government emphasized the importance of public education and long-term prevention strategies.
These efforts will be aligned with national copyright initiatives, including the “Sword Net 2026” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about intellectual property protection.
