Overseasidol.com — Chinese actor Xie Mengwei, sparked controversy after appearing in a livestream wearing a police uniform.

Although the outfit lacked an official badge and chest emblem, it carried police shoulder patches and arm insignia, drawing public attention.

Shortly after the incident, Xie issued a public apology on social media.

He explained that the uniform was actually a prop used for filming and should not have been worn during his livestream.

“I should not have shared videos or gone live while wearing this costume. I sincerely apologize to the People’s Police,” he wrote.

Born on March 4, 1989, in Xiong County, Baoding, Hebei Province, Xie Mengwei became popular in 2003 for his portrayal of Zhang Ga in the drama “Zhang Ga the Soldier Boy”.

He later expanded his career as both an actor and director.
