Overseasidol.com — The urban suspense crime web series Who Invaded officially premiered on March 19, streaming exclusively on Sohu Video.
Produced by Sohu and undertaken by Hongtuzi Film & Television, the drama is directed by Zhang Zuquan and Yu Lingxu.
Starring actors including Shawn Wei, Song Jiateng, Tao Hai, and Tian Yitong, the series features 18 episodes of around 30 minutes each.
It presents three standalone story arcs connected by hidden clues, all inspired by real-life incidents involving privacy violations.
The opening storyline, titled “Lost Phone,” sets a tense tone from the start.
The plot follows Ding Hai, a former boxing champion turned ride-hailing driver portrayed by Wei Qianxiang.
After serving time in prison for injuring someone in an impulsive act, Ding struggles with a shattered career, a broken marriage, and a sick daughter born prematurely with congenital illness.
His life takes a darker turn when he finds a mysterious phone during a ride. Soon, his daughter goes missing, a nameless body is discovered by the river, and he becomes the target of unknown pursuers.
As secrets hidden within the device gradually unfold, Ding’s complicated connection with DJ Xu Lei, played by Tian Yitong, adds emotional depth to the suspense.
Other story segments also explore moral dilemmas and psychological tension. In the chapter “Ghost in the Wall” real estate agent Zhang Kai (Song Jiateng) faces temptation after discovering a large sum of hidden cash while helping nightclub owner Xiao Qian sell her property.
Their struggle over money blurs the line between survival and greed.
Meanwhile, the “Castrated Love” arc follows veteran detective Li Changtian (Tao Hai) and young officer Su Bin as they investigate a chilling serial murder case involving a seemingly kind but secretly dangerous figure in the cosmetic surgery industry.
