Adapted from the popular novel “Jin Wu Bu Jin, Chang Ye Wei Ming” by Yi Ren Kui Kui, the drama follows the story of Shen Qingwu, a noblewoman who defies her family’s expectations to pursue freedom in love and marriage.

After severing ties with her family, she joins the army, rising through the ranks to become a fearless female general.

Along the way, she crosses paths with Zhang Xingjian, a scholarly official from an influential family who is deeply committed to the well-being of the people.

The two join forces to quell rebellions, defeat mountain bandits, and confront corrupt ministers, embodying courage, loyalty, and idealism in a turbulent era.

Initially, the drama gained praise for its equal billing arrangement both Zhou Keyu and Zhao Qing were introduced as co-leads, with their names presented on equal standing.

This approach was seen as a refreshing move in the entertainment industry, where “fanwei” (credit ranking disputes) often spark controversy among fans.

However, during the opening ceremony, the official cast poster became a hot topic online.

Netizens noticed that the production team had meticulously categorized the cast with multiple titles such as “lead actor,” “special lead,” “special guest,” and “guest appearance”.

What drew the most attention was the placement of actress Chen Yuqi, a seasoned performer with less commercial popularity, whose name was displayed horizontally and separately from the vertical list of other leads.
