Renowned Hong Kong filmmaker and producer Wong Jing has sparked widespread discussion after sharing his views on the concept of “bad movies” during a recent interview.

His comments quickly drew attention from movie fans and industry professionals alike.

Speaking about film criticism, Wong stated that he does not believe any movie should be labeled as a “bad movie”.

“There’s no such thing as a bad movie; there’s simply no such thing in this world. I think people who call other people’s movies ‘bad’ are very uncultured,” he said.

He argued that dismissing someone else’s work with such a term reflects a lack of respect for the effort and dedication invested in the creative process.

According to Wong Jing, filmmaking is a combination of artistic expression and commercial reality.

Every project involves significant work, financial considerations, and creative decisions made under unique circumstances.

As a result, he believes that a film’s value should not be judged solely by box office performance or public reviews.
