Overseasidol.com — Japanese idol group AKB48 is set to host a special Tokyo handshake event on April 29, 2026, at Makuhari Messe to celebrate the release of their 67th single, Nagori Sakura.
The event will feature exciting guest appearances, including members of Indonesia-based sister group JKT48.
As part of the announcement, it has been confirmed that veteran Japanese idol Iyo Matsumoto, who served as a double center for the track “Cecile” included in the Type-A limited edition, will make a special appearance during the live performance segment.
Adding to the excitement, all 12 selected members of JKT48 will attend the event to commemorate their 27th single, Idol Nanka Janakattara / Andai ‘Ku Bukan Idola.
The release gained additional attention earlier this year with a music video cameo by AKB48 member Yui Oguri.
During the event, JKT48 is scheduled to deliver a standalone performance as well as a collaborative stage with AKB48, promising a unique cross-group experience for fans.
In addition to the performances, several fan engagement activities involving JKT48 members will also take place.
The Tokyo handshake event marks the grand finale of the promotional campaign for “Nagori Zakura”.
Fans who possess the handshake coupon included in the first press limited editions (Type A to C) of the single will be eligible to participate.
