Initially, Peck refused to undergo a blood test during a police investigation, citing patient rights as the reason.
In response, the local police chief clarified that authorities have the legal right to conduct blood tests.
However, under the authority of the Thai Narcotics Control Committee, police instead applied to collect a hair sample for drug testing.
The police forensic team visited the hospital where Peck was staying to coordinate with him and relevant parties.
An official request was also submitted to the hospital in accordance with Thailand’s Criminal Procedure Code and Penal Code.
Under Thai law, refusing to provide a hair sample is considered a violation of a narcotics control officer’s order, punishable by up to one year in prison, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both.
In the latest development, Peck has agreed to cooperate and provided a hair sample to the police.
The sample has been sent to the Department of Forensic Science under the Ministry of Justice for testing.
