Overseasidol.com — Japanese idol group SKE48 has officially announced the opening of its 14th generation member audition, scheduled to run from January 5 to January 31, 2026.
The announcement was made during the group’s New Year countdown live concert titled “SKE (Sakae) no Oomisoka wa Mada Owaran 2025→2026”, held at the SKE48 Theater in Nagoya on the night of December 31 through January 1.
The special countdown performance featured 38 SKE48 members aged 19 and above, including Kumazaki Haruka, Asai Yuka, and Aikawa Honoka.
At the end of the concert, an announcement video was played on screen, highlighting the group’s strong teamwork, passionate performances, and an encouraging message about chasing dreams without giving up.
The video also served as the official launch of the 14th generation audition.
The audition is open to females aged between 12 and 25, regardless of nationality.
No prior entertainment experience is required, as long as applicants are willing to sign an official contract upon passing the audition and are able to regularly attend activities and performances at the SKE48 Theater after joining the group.
SKE48 captain Matsumoto Chikako expressed her excitement about welcoming new members. She shared that the current members are looking forward to meeting fresh faces who will bring new energy and help the group grow even stronger.
