Veteran Hong Kong Actor Benz Hui Passes Away Peacefully at 76

Overseasidol.com — Hong Kong veteran actor Benz Hui (Hui Siu Hung) passed away peacefully in the early hours of October 28 due to organ failure caused by cancer. He was 76 years old.

Benz Hui, affectionately known as a “golden supporting actor” in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry, was beloved by audiences for his iconic roles such as “Brother Foon Hei” and “Chu Cong”.

Over a career spanning more than five decades, he became a symbol of dedication and humility in acting, often saying that “there are no small roles, only small actors”.

According to reports, Hui’s family confirmed the news through his close friend Florence Lai, stating that he passed away peacefully at 2:30 a.m. after battling cancer.

Earlier this month, the actor was reported to be critically ill and hospitalized. Friends and industry colleagues, including Michael Miu, Jamie Chik, and TVB producers Wen Weihong and Lam Chi Wah, visited him at the hospital in his final days.

Actress Charmaine Sheh became emotional when asked about Hui’s condition, revealing that she had visited him and was deeply saddened by his passing.

Born on November 4, 1948, in Hong Kong, Benz Hui’s ancestral roots trace back to Shantou, Guangdong.

He was a versatile actor known for his performances in acclaimed films such as “Running Out of Time,” “The Lion Roars,” and “Line Walker”.
