Titled Sunset Boulevard The Anna May Wong Story, the film is produced by Shanghai Fundamental Films and will chronicle the life and legacy of Anna May Wong, widely recognized as the first Chinese American actress to achieve international fame in Hollywood.
The project is currently in pre-production and will be filmed in both Mandarin and English to reach a wider global audience.
Xin Zhilei’s casting has generated significant buzz, especially following her recent Best Actress win at the Venice Film Festival for her role in The Sun Rises in the Sky, directed by Cai Shangjun.
This new biopic marks her first major film project after receiving the prestigious award.
