Overseasidol.com — On June 28, the legacy of beloved musician Khalil Fong was celebrated at the Golden Melody Awards, where he was posthumously honored with two major accolades.
His song “Cai Er Shi San” earned him the Best Composer Award in the vocal category, while his final album The Dreamer received the prestigious Special Jury Award.
The Dreamer, released last year, had been submitted for various award categories in this year’s ceremony.
However, a complication arose regarding the Special Contribution Award, due to Khalil Fong’s American nationality, which made him ineligible to personally receive that particular honor.
In response, his management clarified that while Khalil himself was not qualified for the Special Contribution Award, his independent music label, Fufu Music Studio, is a legally registered entity in Taiwan with a complete business profile.
This allows the label itself to potentially be considered for the award, as a way to honor his enduring contributions to music.
The heartbreaking news of Khalil Fong’s passing was shared by Fufu Music Studio on March 1.
According to the announcement, he had battled a chronic illness for five years and passed away peacefully on the morning of February 21, 2025.
The studio described his passing as a transition into another realm of his life’s journey, where he would continue his mission and dream.
