Overseasidol.com — AKB48 has officially announced the release of their 68th single, set to drop on August 19, 2026.
The announcement was made during a handshake event for their previous single “Nagori Zakura” held in Tokyo.
For this upcoming release, Ito Momoka will once again take the center position for the title track.
This marks a significant milestone, as it has been approximately 12 years since a member last held the center position for two consecutive singles.
Momoka shared that she initially lacked confidence when she was first chosen as center, but the overwhelming support from fans helped her grow both personally and professionally.
She expressed her determination to make the most of this opportunity and showcase her improvement through this new release.
The senbatsu lineup for the 68th single includes 16 members, featuring Ito Momoka, Sato Airi, Yagi Azuki, Oguri Yui, Kuranoo Narumi, Yamauchi Mizuki, Akiyama Yuna, Arai Sae, Kawamura Yui, Chiba Erii, Shitao Miu, Hashimoto Eriko, Kudo Kasumi, Nagatomo Ayami, Mizushima Miyuu, and Kondo Saki.
Notably, 14-year-old trainee Kondo Saki has been selected for the first time, making her one of the youngest members to enter senbatsu.
Kondo expressed her excitement and hopes to attract more young fans to the AKB48 through her participation.
