Overseasidol.com — The ongoing fraud case involving The iCon Group in Thailand’s entertainment industry has entered a new phase.
Prosecutors confirmed that on April 27 at 9:00 AM local time, the Office of the Special Prosecutor for Major Cases officially filed charges at the criminal court against two public figures, Min Pechaya and Sam Yuranunt.
Both individuals are facing multiple serious allegations, including public fraud. Previously, Min and Sam had requested a postponement to report to prosecutors, which was originally scheduled for March 26. This delay led to the case being formally pursued at this stage.
The decision to prosecute had already been finalized on February 19, 2026, by Thailand’s Attorney General.
The charges include public fraud, online fraud through computer systems, illegal lending under fraudulent schemes, and operating unauthorized direct sales networks.
Initially, special prosecutors had considered dropping the case against the two, citing insufficient evidence.
At that time, they were believed to have acted solely as brand ambassadors responsible for promoting products, without direct involvement in recruiting members, unlike other individuals implicated in the case.
However, this stance changed after the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) raised objections.
According to the DSI chief, further investigation revealed that both Min and Sam played a much more significant role than previously thought.
They allegedly received substantial payments and frequently appeared at public events, persuading people to join and invest in the scheme.
Investigators believe that their public influence significantly boosted trust in the platform, which is now suspected to be a Ponzi scheme.
Their involvement is considered comparable to internal operators, providing sufficient grounds for prosecution.
