Chinese actress Yang Zi made history after winning Best Actress at the 31st White Magnolia Awards, held on June 26, 2026.
She earned the prestigious honor for her performance as Bai Ju in the television drama Life Tree.
The victory marks a major milestone in her career, making Yang Zi the first actress born in the 1990s to receive the Best Actress title at the Magnolia Awards.
During her acceptance speech, Yang Zi expressed heartfelt gratitude to director Li Xue, whom she credited for helping her grow as an actress throughout the filming process.
With a touch of humor, she admitted that she both “loved and hated” the director while working on the series because of the demanding production.
However, she sincerely thanked him for pushing her to deliver one of the strongest performances of her career.
