Overseasidol.com — Taiwanese actor Darren Wang and his girlfriend Que Muxuan have been sentenced in a case involving alleged violations of the Personal Data Protection Act.

The verdict was delivered on April 22, with several individuals including a police officer and other associates also implicated in the case.

According to the court’s decision, Darren Wang and Que Muxuan were each sentenced to six months in prison, which can be commuted to a fine of NT$180,000 (approximately 5.699 USD).

None of the defendants appeared in court on the day of the ruling.

Later that evening, Darren Wang issued a statement through his legal team, strongly disputing the verdict.

The statement argued that the court’s findings did not accurately reflect the facts and that there were inconsistencies in both the interpretation of evidence and the application of legal principles.

The legal team further clarified that the court had found Wang not guilty in relation to one part of the case involving the retrieval of certain personal data.

However, they challenged the guilty ruling tied to another individual, stating that both factual and legal errors were present in that decision.

Wang’s lawyers confirmed that an appeal will be filed, emphasizing their determination to defend his legal rights and reputation through proper judicial channels.
