Overseasidol.com — Hong Kong actor Chapman To has been living in Taiwan for five years and recently took on a chilling villain role in the drama Zero Day Attack.

He plays “Brother Qiang,” a character sent by the CCP to infiltrate Taiwan. In the series, he manipulates Zhuang Kaixun and even assaults his wife while he is in prison.

The director initially worried the role was “too evil,” but To argued that reality can be just as dark.

To admitted he rarely does extra research for his roles. Instead, he interprets the script and adds his own life experiences, saying he has seen bad people in real life, unlike the director.

He also stressed that Taiwanese people are generally kind, with few “bad guys” around.

When asked about the recent death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, To admitted he saw the reports but did not follow them closely.

He remarked that human life should be respected in any country and that tragedies like this are not surprising in China.

Reflecting on his past work in mainland China, To said he never personally encountered the rumored “casting couch” practices, joking that it might be because of his appearance.

He suggested women face this more often, and nowadays even men are not spared.
