Overseasidol.com — Shanghai Star48 Culture Media Group Co., Ltd., the entertainment company behind popular idol group SNH48, has recently been penalized for violating China’s Publishing Administration Regulations, according to data from the Qichacha corporate information platform.
Authorities found that the company produced and distributed two photo albums titled “Overseas Travel Diary 15” and “Overseas Travel Diary 17” without obtaining the required publishing license.
The albums were independently produced by the company and printed through a third-party printing service, with 20 copies made for each title.
The photo books were later sold via the company’s official online store as part of bundled merchandise packages that included fan items such as handshake tickets and collectible photos.
Each bundle was priced at 288 yuan, with no separate pricing for the albums themselves. Reports indicate that all packages were completely sold out.
Following an official review, regulators determined that the albums qualified as illegal publications, as they were released by a non-publishing entity without authorization.
As a result, Siba Media was ordered to confiscate the publications and pay a fine of 10,000 yuan.
