Overseasidol.com — Recently, filmmaker Wong Jing shared stories about Jackie Chan’s dedication to filmmaking, revealing that the action star once nearly lost his life during a shoot.
He described Jackie as someone who always pushed himself to the limit, often covered in injuries, and even sleeping on hotel floors because soft beds hurt his back.
Wong Jing recalled Jackie’s dangerous accident while filming Armour of God.
The actor attempted to swing from a tree branch between two high points, but the branch snapped, causing him to fall and hit his head on a rock.
He was rushed to the hospital and required brain surgery. Production was halted for a long time, but his life was saved thanks to timely medical help.
He also mentioned Jackie’s classic stunt in Police Story, where he slid down a lamp post covered in lights.
Despite warnings from the director to use wires, Jackie insisted on performing the stunt without assistance.
His hands were severely injured, but the scene became one of the most iconic moments in action cinema.
Wong Jing stressed that Jackie Chan should not be compared to Bruce Lee.
“Bruce Lee was a martial artist, but Jackie is a super action actor. They are different and not comparable.
Bruce Lee started it, but Jackie made it global. He truly raised the status of Chinese people in world cinema,” he said.
