Overseasidol.com — The long-running legal battle involving veteran Taiwanese host Mickey Huang has concluded.
On Thursday (May 7), the Supreme Court delivered its final verdict regarding Huang’s possession of illicit underage videos, confirming that he will serve a suspended sentence rather than immediate jail time.
The court upheld the second-instance ruling, sentencing Huang to 1 year and 6 months in prison, with a 4-year probation.
The decision considered Mickey Huang’s guilty plea and the fact that he reached settlements with 37 victims.
Huang was previously exposed for purchasing and possessing 2,341 prohibited videos featuring minors from the notorious online forum “Creative Private Room”, a discovery that sparked nationwide outrage in Taiwan.
Following the verdict, Zofia, the whistleblower who initiated the public disclosure of Huang’s conduct, shared her thoughts via Instagram.
She expressed deep frustration, suggesting that the legal system often prioritizes the “rehabilitation” of offenders over the protection of victims.
“It would be a lie to say I’m not afraid,” Zofia admitted.
She revealed that even while living abroad, she remains hyper-vigilant about her security, locking doors and relying on surveillance.
Despite her fears, Zofia urged the public to take the privacy and online safety of minors more seriously.
